Seacoast National Bank contributes to replace YMCA roof

STUART, FL. After raising almost $70,000 to replace the roof on their facility on Monterey Road in Stuart, The YMCA of the Treasure Coast was just shy of their goal by $5,000. Seacoast National Bank stepped in and donated the balance of the funds to complete the campaign. Construction began on April 24th.
“This was clearly a community need that needed an immediate response,” said Denise Ehrich, Chief Marketing Officer for Seacoast National Bank. “Because we are a community bank and we are committed to the community in which our customers and employees live, we knew we wanted to help.”
“Thanks to the generosity and final gift from Seacoast, we are able to repair our roof and further our cause of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility to the communities we serve on the Treasure Coast,” said Charlene Foster, Director of Development for the YMCA of the Treasure Coast.
The roof damage occurred as a result of faulty installation in 1997. Attempts to go back to the original roofing company failed because the business had closed. “We knew that in order for our Y to keep our promise of service to the community, we had to repair our roof. We want our building to be a safe place for youth, adults and seniors to come together,” continued Foster.
Most of the donations came from members in a small, grass roots campaign. Seacoast National Bank contributed one of the largest corporate gifts to the project.
Seacoast National Bank is the operating arm of Seacoast Banking Corporation of Florida (NASDAQ: SBCF). With over $2 billion in assets and 34 branches from Orlando to Palm Beach Gardens and south central Florida, it is one of the largest community banks headquartered in Florida. For more information, visit the bank’s website at www.SeacoastNational.com.

"This Is My World" Art Show to benefit "Building Bridges To Youth"

On February 1, 2013 Osceola32 Gallery & Wine Bar held "This Is My World" Art Show of digital artist Michael Claren to benefit "Building Bridges To Youth". Building Bridges to Youth, a nonprofit organization located in East Stuart, pairs teenagers and senior citizens for its signature mentorship program. It also operates the Roots & Wings Food Bank for 75 families, offers a weekly computer training course for seniors and holds several other activities for its enrollees. Building Bridges attempts to help youths improve their education and life skills by teaming them with senior citizens who are regarded as good role models in East Stuart, said Ollie Harvey, who manages the program. This is important for youths who might not have good adult role models in their families.

Seacoast National Bank associates donate supplies to Gertrude Walden Childcare Center

STUART, FL (December 5, 2012) – For the second straight year, Seacoast National Bank’s van pulled up to the Gertrude Walden Childcare Center in November loaded and overflowing with supplies donated by Seacoast associates to restock the center’s supply closet.  The items included an assortment of personal care items including diapers, socks, baby wipes, toothbrushes and toothpaste, laundry detergent, paper towels and toilet tissue.  Some employees donated cash and items were purchased in bulk, and others donated gently-used hand-me-downs. The drive started last holiday season after a tour of the facility by Seacoast National Bank’s Treasure Coast President Tom Wilkinson.  After seeing the supply closet depleted, Wilkinson thought he could help.  “I know our associates are some of the most generous people in our community and knew they would respond to the need,” said Wilkinson.  Last year, associates donated similar items that filled a pick-up truck. “We felt like we had an early Christmas thanks to Seacoast,” said Thelma Washington, director of the childcare center for 17 years.  “Food stamps don’t buy personal items and many of our families need these things.  Seacoast has been our number one supplier for two years now!” The supplies will be used throughout the year and are available to all the families at the center.  The supplies were desperately needed; Washington reported some of the donated items were used that very day. More than 100 children attend the child care center.
