“Breaking the Cycle” for Project LIFT

For one young graduate of the Project LIFT program in Palm City, getting to and from her new job in Indiantown will be much easier, thanks to a gift from attorney Chuck Geary of Lesser, Lesser, Landy & Smith, PLLC.  Geary presented the young woman with a new bicycle as part of his commitment to support the non-profit in their efforts to “break the cycle” of generational poverty. The bike presentation kicked off a 250 mile cycling trip that Geary will take from January 29th- Feb 5th as a fundraiser for Project LIFT, which provides mental health counseling and mentoring for at-risk youth through the unique platform of vocational training.
The trip from Homestead to Key West will be Chuck’s 15th journey to benefit charity, and will take him over 88 bridges, with a crew of 20 accompanying him.It is fitting that Geary chose to support Project LIFT with this ride, as the non-profit has repaired and donated more than 2,000 bicycles as part of their vocational skills training program for teens, which also includes welding, HVAC, auto repair and construction. The bicycle repair program has been on hiatus, but funds raised from this journey will be used toward reinstating the program, as Project LIFT aims to replace substance abuse and other negative behaviors with skilled trades.
