Florida PAL Girl of the Year

Second chances are a reality when it comes to the youth in Martin County.  Just look at what happened to Sandra Graham. This young lady came to the Martin County PAL Leadership program as a result of some bad decisions she made.  She entered as a hesitant young adult and grew into an amazing peer leader within the PAL program.  Her notoriety quickly gained steam, from speaking at the County Commissioners meeting to being recognized by the Florida State Police Athletic League association as a possible applicant for scholarship grants.  She applied and was chosen from amongst 15 other applicants in the state.

“Before starting PAL it was hard for me to keep my head up when I faced adversity, but now I have the skills they taught me to get past my challenges,” Sandra wrote. “PAL’s leaders have helped guide me through some tough situations and I am truly grateful for them and everything they taught me.”  She calls PAL her “second home”, a “safe place with a judgment free environment.”

Martin County PAL has successfully been delivering their iLEad…iCHoose…ME Leadership program for over 2 years with a 95% success rate.  This stimulating 16 week course gives youth tools that they can use now and for the rest of their lives.
